Our arrival and sleep packs that make such a difference to the lives of separated children when they first arrive in the UK are totally dependent on a dedicated team of volunteers who co-ordinate the goods and pack up the bags ready for distribution.
Our amazing volunteers are from all walks of life and have a variety of motivations to want to support The Separated Child Foundation through the donation of their time.
It is always particularly heartening when young people choose to volunteer for us and Guy Slavin reveals his own motivation for wanting to volunteer for The Separated Child Foundation and shares some of his experience:
“As part of my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, I wanted to volunteer for a charity that helps improve the lives of children less fortunate than myself. ‘Separated Child’ is a very worthy charity which helps refugee children arriving in the UK on their own.
“Angela, Irene and the team are very dedicated and I was warmly welcomed. Having to manage the inventory of incoming donations gave me a real sense of responsibility and seeing Arrival Packs ready to leave the warehouse made my contribution feel very real. I really enjoyed the time I spent at ‘Separated Child’ and would recommend it to anyone looking to make a difference”.

Thank you to Guy and all of our fantastic volunteers for their dedication to improving the lives of separated children!
