Angela’s Cost of Refuge Challenge
This is a great example of a fundraising endeavour by Angela Gluck, a trustee of The Separated Child Foundation.
For 30 days, Angela ate and drank on just £2 a day.
Destitute asylum seekers in the UK only get £36.95 a week at the most—and that has to cover all they need: food and drink, toiletries, clothes and shoes, cleaning products and household items, fares, stamps and phone calls—everything. From talking to asylum seekers and from simple calculations, it’s easy to work out that there can’t be more than £2 a day to spend on food.
Below is an interview with Angela which describes what she was aiming to achieve and the reasons for this amazing challenge:
Paying in money you have raised for us
If you have kindly raised money for us, and would like to pay it in, there are a number of ways:
You can donate online here. If you’re a UK taxpayer, please click that button so as to gift-aid what you give: it will currently earn The Separated Child Foundation a further 25% at no cost to you.
If you prefer to write a cheque, please make it payable to “The Separated Child Foundation” and send it to:
Treasurer: The Separated Child Foundation

If you’re a UK taxpayer, please print and fill in this gift aid form and enclose it with your cheque. That will mean we can claim the tax on your gift.
On behalf of all of us at The Separated Child Foundation, thank you so much for your support.
