We are the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting separated children and young people. Our mission is to restore their dignity, autonomy and ambition, and our vision is to ensure that every separated refugee child and young person in the UK gets the support they need.
Every year, separated children arrive in the UK, forcibly displaced from their homes and families. And every year we support these children and young people by creating 6,000 welcome packs and sleep packs, providing immediate comfort at a moment of fear and uncertainty. Since our founding in 2007, we have delivered over 47,000 welcome packs filled with clothing, toiletries and other essential items.
We are a small but ambitious team, and our goal is to ensure every child arriving to the UK unaccompanied receives a welcome and a sleep pack. To deliver this, we partner with over
180 organisations, businesses and hundreds of volunteers.
Over the years we responded to a need for dignity-focused care and support. As a result, we now provide practical and social support through our educational youth groups in three locations across England. Annually, we deliver 90+ sessions, reaching over 200 children and young people across Bournemouth and South London.
Working in partnership with local organisations and offering a holistic service, these weekly free sessions offer a range of interactive and fun educational activities to help separated children and young people practise their English and settle into life in the UK. Each session also ends with a meal eaten together as a group.
These groups give children and young people agency, confidence and a sense of belonging. We see every child as unique, and through connection and community we help them begin again, not just to survive, but to belong.
